Good questions.

Filming, rankings, aliases and ribbons. If yours isn’t here, ask us.

Entering

How do I enter?

Ride and film first, enter second. Pick a test from Schoolers Tests, ride and film it from C, upload the video to YouTube as unlisted, then fill in the entry form, paste the link and pay NZ$49. Step by step

How much is it?

NZ$49 per test, paid by card when you submit. No membership, no closing dates. Each test you enter is a separate NZ$49 entry with its own scoresheet and walkthrough.

Which level should I pick?

Any level from Introductory to Grand Prix, no qualifying. The feedback is worth most near the edge of what you can already do. Your PR is kept per level, so pick the level you are training at and stay there while you chase your score.

Can I ride the same test again?

Yes, as often as you like. Any Schoolers test at the level counts toward the same PR, so you can ride 2.1 one month and 2.3 the next.

Can I enter from outside New Zealand?

Yes. You are judged and tracked in the rankings exactly the same way. For overseas riders (outside New Zealand), additional costs for postage of ribbons may apply. Contact us to find out more about postage costs in your region.

Filming

How should I film my test?

Landscape, from C, in good natural light, with the whole arena in frame from the entry at A to the final halt and salute, in one continuous take. A friend with a phone or a Pivo both work. How to film your test

Do I need a proper arena?

A flat, rectangular space on grass, sand or indoors. Improvised markers are fine. Each test sheet states the arena size it is ridden in, either 20×40m or 20×60m, so check the sheet before you film. How to measure up your arena

Do I have to plait, or wear whites?

No plaits, no dress code, no competition whites. Ride in what you train in. We judge the riding.

Public, unlisted or private on YouTube?

Unlisted. The judge can open the link, nobody can search for it, and it never appears on our site or socials. Private videos cannot be judged.

Can I have a caller?

Yes. Ride the test as written, with or without someone calling it.

What if my video is unjudgeable?

If the whole test can’t be seen, or the file won’t play, we will ask for one replacement at no cost. Otherwise it is one submission per entry.

Scores, PRs and rankings

What is a Schoolers Score?

The percentage on your scoresheet, marked movement by movement on the 0 to 10 scale by a qualified dressage judge, as it would be at a show.

What counts as a Personal Result?

Your PR is your best Schoolers Score so far at a level, for you and that horse. Your first test at a level gets you on the board and sets your PR. Every later test at that level that beats it is a new PR.

How do the rankings work?

One line per horse and rider combination at each level, showing your PR, how many tests you have ridden and the ribbons you have earned. Lines are ordered by PR for interest only; nobody is ranked against anybody else and there are no placings.

What if I change horse or move up a level?

You start a fresh line with a new first test. Your old line stays on the board.

What if my score goes down?

Nothing happens. The test is judged and commentated in full and shows in your history. It is simply not a new PR. Some rides go backwards while you learn something new.

When do I get my results?

Within seven working days of submitting. You get an email with links to your scoresheet and your video walkthrough. Download both within 30 days; they are not stored online permanently.

Can I ask for a re-review?

Scores are final, but you can ask for one free re-review per calendar year. The judge’s decision on a re-review is final.

Aliases and privacy

Can I ride under an alias?

Yes. Choose an alias when you enter and only that appears on the rankings. Your real details stay with Schoolers so we know where to post your ribbon.

Can I change my display name later, or come off the board?

Yes, just ask.

Who sees my video?

The judge only. Videos are never published or shared.

Ribbons and prizes

When do I get a ribbon?

Every time you set a new Personal Result at a level. There is no minimum margin. Your first test at a level cannot earn one on its own; it sets the score to beat.

Where do you post ribbons?

By standard post to New Zealand addresses. For overseas riders (outside New Zealand), additional costs for postage of ribbons may apply. Contact us to find out more about postage costs in your region.

Are there placings or prizes for position?

No. PRX™ is dressage you ride against yourself. Spot prizes may occasionally be awarded at our discretion.
